>X-33 RCS Controller

Aerojet Rocketdyne Build, Test and Delivery of the Reaction Control System for X-33 Reusable Launch Vehicle and prototype for VentureStar replacement for the space shuttle.

X-33 Maneuvering Thruster Controller project. Responsible for the final design of controller hardware. The controller is based on the 87C196 CPU and utilizes MIL-STD-1553 and RS-422 for communications, programming, and system operational commands. Firmware written in 'C' and assembly. The system performed signal analysis for BIT and failure detection on all channels.

Controller incorporated data acquisition including low level analog signals from thermocouples, RTD's, pressure transducers and internal monitoring for a total of 32 channels. Outputs switched power for control of propellant valves and heaters. Provided PCB layout for the main and two auxiliary boards. Electronics packaging designed for space flight environmental and thermal qualification.

Supported hot-fire test of the RCS with the components arranged to simulate the X-33 vehicle. Prepared and delivered concept and design layout presentations for Lockheed and NASA.
